La Habana was the first Taina ship to dock in Rusvia. Despite her preparations for the cold, Carmen trembled in her heavy coat.
A head of hark hair appeared from a distance. Assuming he was a translator, she patiently waited for him to approach her.
Carmen was suddenly lost in a trance.
His eyes casted a striking blue spell over her, one that brought color and life to this wintry land. His voice pulled her back to the present.
“Hello. I am Mikhail.”
His broken Iberian lured her to him.
An Iberian ship docked in Rusvia. Its red and yellow flag paired with a navy square. They called it a colony ship.
One of its traders disembarked, burrowed in a heavy coat. A closer study revealed the female Iberian.
Her eyes suddenly gripped his thoughts.
They seemed too dark to be brown, like the coffee newly introduced to Rusvia. They percolated with mystery.
Was she Iberian? Where was her colony? What was her name?
Something conjured words out of him.
“Hello. I am Mikhail.”
She moved towards him.
Thank you to Miguel S. for inspiring today’s writing exercises! (I promise both stories are 90mg)
This prompt is pretty much straight from the early chapters of my Skyrates story. It’s sort of a meet cute, but Carmen and Mikhail’s relationship won’t really develop until much later. I figured it’d be fun to get the same encounter from both POVs.
I appreciate you all bearing with my experimental prompts for a story that’s basically a WIP behind the scenes! I’ll share it here someday, but for now it’s good material for prompt exercises.
Love it!…. But Seamus though…
I love this approach to prompts so much. I should write some micro scenes from my wip 🧐
