Prompt: Dreaming
An observation of a sleeping cat.
The tri-colored loaf laid curled on a red gingham blanket. The first twitch took her owner's attention away from Jane Austen. The second prompted curiosity. The third secured her undivided attention.
The calico jolted herself awake. A cautious "meow" following suit. Her green eyes surveyed the tranquil bedroom.
"You're safe."

This was inspired by the times I’ve watched my own cat sleeping. The way she wakes herself makes me think she’s having a nightmare, so sometimes I’ll tell her she’s safe to reassure her.
